About

On all the personal sites I’ve ever put up, the ‘About Me’ page has always ended up being ‘Coming Soon’, right up until the day the site gets taken down. You can maybe gather that I don’t really know what to write.

I grew up in Goole, East Yorkshire, which is about as pleasant as it sounds. I’ve been at Lancaster University since 2003, and as yet show no signs of planning to leave. I’ve been through undergradate and masters degrees in Computer Science, and I’m now doing a PhD. More about that on the research page.

Outside of academica, I’m fairly big on music; I play guitar and can be found playing around open mic nights in Lancaster, mostly the LULUMS Open Mic at Fibber McGees. I used to be heavily involved in LULUMS, even rising to the dizzying heights of President before slumming it as the webmaster.

For the record, I also enjoy the usual computer scientist clichés.
